Our Early
Assessment Program is the perfect opportunity to find out your chances of developing
cardiovascular disease. Early risk factor assessment and education are two of the
greatest allies in detecting and preventing heart disease.
Heart disease risk factors include the following:
The Early Assessment Program gives you the tools to eliminate or reduce the above, to change your lifestyle and thus to reduce your chances of developing heart disease.
The program begins with a full
risk assessment, administered by one of our cardiac nurse specialists. You will have an
electrocardiogram and a full cardiac examination by a cardiologist. Following this
comprehensive assessment, an exercise stress test will be performed to determine your
current cardiovascular fitness level.
Once these initial tests are completed, you will meet with one of our exercise specialists and receive personalized exercise counseling. A dietitian will review your eating patterns and pinpoint any pitfalls in your diet. Together you will both decide what is the best and most flexible approach to menu selections, given your specific lifestyle habits.
One of the Cardiac Wellness physicians will discuss your results with you and review all of your risk factors. You will receive a state-of-the-art computerized summary of your results and recommendations about how to proceed with everything you have just learned.
If you wish to continue in a program that offers ongoing supervision in exercise, lifestyle management and advice, you are welcome to join the Cardiac Wellness Program at the Cardiac Wellness Institute.
